Salmon Creek Farms Natural Pork Quality Monitoring

Quality Monitoring

For traceback purposes, all pigs are identified by lot
  • There is a record of breeding stock source, location of birth, nursery, growing, and finishing to allow SCFMA to know the complete history of all hogs in our program.
All health treatments and feed rations are recorded and retained for one year post slaughter
  • This allows SCFMA to guarantee the production practices for meat produced from our farmer partner’s hogs.
If at anytime a farmer partner is found to be in major noncompliance immediate and appropriate action is taken.
  • This may include, but is not limited to, eliminating kill of that farmer partner’s identified hogs. A second major noncompliance action will result in void of the partner agreement.
  • SCFMA will not tolerate any deviations from the above production practices. We guarantee our pork is produced using these prescribed Salmon Creek Farms Marketing Association production practices. We measure performance and contract with a third party auditor to assure compliance.
All SCFMA farmer partners are required to participate in the Swine Welfare Assurance Program (SWAP)
  • This program is designed to maintain and promote the pork industry tradition of responsible animal care through the application of scientifically sound animal care practices.
Carcass characteristics will be evaluated on a subsample of each farmer partner’s hogs.
  • The information gathered in these evaluations will be available to the farmer. This information is used to help the farmer adjust production and management constantly improving the quality of the pork in the Salmon Creek Farms Natural Pork program.
